ECUMENICAL NEWS

Two changes are coming in our local Churches with which we have regular contact.

Rev. Jacky Embrey, who has been the URC Minister at Weoley Hill Church for a number of years is moving as from June to become the URC part of the team at the Cotteridge Church, which, of course is in our South West Circuit.

At St. Mary's, Selly Oak, they have been without a Vicar for some 12 months. It has now been announced that the Bishop has offered the living to Rev. Jim Cox, at present the incumbent of St. Andrew's in Taunton. He has accepted the offer, and will arrive in due course.

Youth Participation Strategy

You may have already read some time ago in the Methodist Recorder that the Methodist Church has launched a Youth Participation Strategy (www.youthparticpation.org.uk).

This is an initiative to encourage young people, particularly those aged from 13-30, to become more involved in Church affairs.

On behalf of Birmingham South West Circuit, Nick Jones and Kara Cooper  are hoping to draw together a group to plan a Youth Consultation to be held on 26-27 June 2010. So if  you are in that age-group please look out for coming publicity and put the date in your 2010 diary now.

Langley House

Langleys Community House is right next door to Selly Oak Methodist Church and is home to five people sharing in living in community for a period of time. Alongside our daily employment and activities we share meals, prayers and chores, all as part of our commitment to share our lives together.

This is who we are:

Emily enjoys finding beauty in nature, loves the company of friends and can't resist cake.

Henry is a child of the world but surprisingly is most at home here in his home town of Birmingham.

Nick loves cricket and healthy debate and is always willing to chat over a cuppa.

James likes exploring the Midlands by bike and coming home to tea and flapjacks. He plays the piano, harmonica and guitar, though not all at the same time!

There is a space coming up in the Community House - Application papers can be obtained from the Circuit Office. Tel: 0121 472 1060 Email: bhamswcircuit@btinternet.com
